when i first moved in, i thought i would die because the white carpet is never the original color due to the layer of filth on top.
now i just turn a blind eye to everything i dislike.
before i moved in, i would have termed this as 'living like an animal', but now i'm living in dirt and inconvenience myself without much fuss.
am reminded of when i visited Peking a couple of years ago and was appalled by how rude the commuters are. by day 2 i was almost as fierce as the rest of them.
personally i find it scary because who i am- who i think i am?- can change within a week. now it's just acclimating myself to a less hygienic environment. or fighting for transport. but soon it may be other, bigger aspects in life that i'm compromising on.
