;;;

看得出我真的很懒惰开始写作业了吗?哈哈

wgm

the night i tried to get hitched in Vegas, we watched jabbawockeez, a hip-hop/break-dance fusion performance, which left us marvelling at the performers' stamina.

afterwards we walked along the strip and took photos (which are all in P's dslr, back in China). then i forced everybody to go to MGM so i can get married in Vegas in a cheap chapel within a casino haha! apparently you can annul a Vegas marriage within 24 hours. and marriages in a country might not be recognized in another, so it wouldn't hurt to have some.. life experience.

where else can u find signs directing you to pool, spa, salon.. and wedding chapel?

after losing our way in the bloody maze of a casino for a couple of times, we finally found the chapel.. and it was closed!!! looks like God really doesn't want me to get married!

of course we still took group photos (none of which is in my iphone, obvi) and happily married one another.

os: P, please come back quickly so we can all have our photos!!

this is my beautiful wife Sally (haha betraying S like nothing else!). she looks very cutesy and her style is very 小清新 but her personality is more western than mine! cool chick. ((thumbs up

and then i must put this photo because it's just hilarious! soph took this with my iphone and i didn't notice. but here is proof that i'm a real Asian who acts cute hahaha! never saw myself as a girl who acts cute but.. nothing i can say in response to this picture, except that he must have some truly hideous photos of me on that camera for me to resort to using this 绝招!

i didn't think it was effective, abc 好像不吃这套。but i don't think he'll publicize anything too ugly so :))

sin city- las vegas xD

haven't been on such a mini plane for a long time.. maybe 12 years?

however these old-fashioned planes actually have bigger seats thus are more comfy.

slept on it peacefully on the flight from San Fran to Las Vegas.

here's what greeted us as we got off from the plane haha

slot machines!

and then we embarked on our giant of a limo, complete with a pole and TV.

here's my professor xDD

my group mate Victoria, who gets hit on more than me despite being almost 20 years older and married 囧

she's just funny and engaging, i love her!

after a short ride we arrived at the Monte Carlo Casino and Resort.

while waiting for check-in, saw this poster for Jabbawockeez, which we were booked in to watch the next day.

after freshening up and a modest (by Asian standards) lunch at Big Belly Buffet, we wandered around the casino as there was no way in hell we were gonna go out into the 40+ degree Celsius desert heat. one funny thing i noted during lunch is how incredibly restrained the Westerners were. they don't go completely crazy and pile everything in sight on their plates like me and everybody else in Malaysia haha.

after losing $1 at a slot machine (one can never win sh*t there, go to the tables instead), we went up to rest so we can be ready for nighttime Vegas ;pp

this is the best dress ever! bought from asos.com.au at a bargain and everybody loves it!

but oh my gosh my face! must get plastic surgery or something.

we met up for a quick, overpriced dinner at the food court then drinks at Diablo's Cantina.

because i suck at consuming alcohol, i had to duck out and rest after every few sips (zomg even i beh tahan myself!) Vegas was coming alive as i did that.

finally i gave up on my margarita and we wandered over to Bellagio to watch the fountain show.

our crappy resort. service is just non-existent. whatever you want, their autopilot response is 'sorry we don't provide that service.' even for basic stuff like hot drinking water. (instead of kettles, hotels in USA provide coffee makers instead).

ok lah, the exterior of our resort is actually pretty cool.

it's too dark to see, but Soph and i were kissing adorable Sally, whose cutesy looks belie a super feminist personality.

this water show was featured in the Japanese Meteor Shower, though how they got Vegas to empty for that scene is beyond me. very impressive.

wah so beautiful right? fake Eiffel Tower and all~

after a few rounds of the show and a billion photos (in other people's camera, i'm lazy like that), we went to Bellagio's casino. it's grander, with higher minimum stakes tables and lovely ceiling art near the entrance.

LV in LV, all glitzy :))

so this is me, a few hours later, all 狼狈 from clubbing at the Bank in Bellagio. honestly i'm getting old and ugly. used to love this!

the cool thing about clubs here is that girls get free entry and 2 vodka drinks *^-^* i think it's one of the few rare occasions when i'm pleased to be female.

even took off my heels~ wow i'm ageing like crazy!

typed this over 2 days in Chicago, where i'm just swamped by work and have no time to go explore the city :'(

palace of fine arts

breakfast at Mel's Diner, a very American diner around the corner from Carlton. complete with bad coffee and all. (i think free refills in USA is so prevalent because the coffee is usually not good enough to inspire them).

one thing i hate about USA is the tax and the tipping. sometimes i panic and tip too much.

and i wonder how come the service is not better when these people know they rely on tips for the bulk of their income((白眼.

after breakfast we took a cab to the Palace of Fine Arts, which is just gorgeous. (cab-taking is an indulgence to me, but my travel mates are all very atas.)

here's a row of lovely houses right opposite the Palace.

it's actually just like a park, in my opinion.

yep this is san fran summer.

here's how huge the Palace is.

we also entered the Exploratorium, which is located on Palace grounds. it's actually a Science Museum which i usually do not have a penchant for, but this one seemed cool.

especially loved the Social section, where it's proven that despite our sophistication in science, most human beings are still slaves to our emotions.

the Exploratorium builds their interactive displays in-house, which just adds bonus points to them!

Soph watched a cow-eye dissection, but that was too scientific for me. ugh.

afterwards i forced Soph to walk to the Walt Disney Family Museum, about half an hour away. haha! i didn't grow up cabbing it everywhere! our legs nearly broke because we'd been walking nonstop for the past few days but at least we saved some dough :))

Walt Disney's daughter opened this museum chronicling the life of her father.

it was interesting, but, like the Exploratorium, you won't die if you miss it.

did buy some beautiful postcards at the gift shop though.

one of the best parts was the magic show included in the ticket. Robert Strong had performed for 2 USA Presidents, so that's some QC right there!

i video-ed a segment where things went a bit awry haha, but the rest was just stupefying awesome!

video

after the museum tour we cabbed it to Union Square, the central shopping district of San Fran.

takeaway scrumptious cheesecake and pasta from The Cheesecake Factory, which apparently one should know of if one watches big bang theory (i don't).

we actually tried to get a table here the day before but it was madly crowded. extremely busy today as well, so we opted for takeaway.

there's a bar, an indoors restaurant and an outdoor area overlooking all the major names in American retail (all of which i visited *^-^*)

here's the fog rolling into Union Square.

saks fifth avenue!

clinique here is 1/3 of clinique in Australia!

Tiffany & Co., which is always closed!

i was taking this photo of the cafe area when a Westerner suddenly posed for me haha!

red velvet cheesecake. mm~

the portions are huge, even by American standards. one serve of pasta could easily feed 3 people. but it was absolutely decadent, though i didn't like my pasta compared to Soph's. we had too much food and ended up calling P to come join us. and even then we couldn't finish it.
